Malibu trim levels and tech

Sedans are popular with many drivers thanks to their versatility, as they're both comfortable and spacious enough to work well as family vehicles and agile enough to be fun to drive. Add affordability and modern tech to the mix, and you'll get the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu. This midsize sedan has been around for decades and is still going strong. We've provided an overview of the different features you get with each trim to help you decide between them.

Detailed Breakdown of 2025 Chevrolet Malibu Trim Levels

The 2025 Chevrolet Malibu is available in four trims: the LS, RS, LT, and 2LT. There's a perfect trim for every budget, each offering a wide range of features.

LS: Base Model Features and Highlights

The base 2025 Chevrolet Malibu trim is well equipped for an affordable base version. Like all other trims, it's powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce up to 163 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It's paired with a continuously variable transmission and is only available in front-wheel drive. It takes around 8.5 seconds to reach 60 mph from a standstill, providing excellent performance for a vehicle mainly built for comfort. Also, it only needs 113 feet to come to a complete halt from a speed of 60 mph.

The base 2025 Malibu also has plenty of features, including 16-inch wheels, a remote engine start function, keyless entry and start, an 8-inch touch-screen interface, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker audio system, and wireless smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. It also comes with essential driver-assistance features to help you avoid challenging road situations. Some of the ones included in the standard version are:

  • Forward collision warning with automatic braking: It uses front-mounted sensors to detect imminent frontal collisions and applies the brakes automatically if you don't act in time.
  • Lane departure mitigation system: It warns you if the vehicle starts to drift from its lane without the turn signal being activated and steers the Malibu back into the center of its lane.
  • Rear parking sensors: They make parking easier by alerting you if the car gets dangerously close to a vehicle or object behind it.

RS: Sporty Appeal with Enhanced Features

If you like sportier-looking sedans, you'll appreciate the RS trim's black front grille, darkened badges, and sporty-looking rear spoiler. It also comes with larger 18-inch aluminum wheels and interior updates, such as a synthetic leather-wrapped steering wheel and a power-adjustable steering wheel.

LT: Midlevel Luxury and Comfort

The LT trim focuses on comfort and style. Some of its features include 17-inch aluminum wheels, dual-zone climate control, a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated exterior mirrors, rear passenger air vents, and heated front seats. It's the ideal choice if you want a few extra convenience features.

2LT: Top-Tier Trim With Exclusive Benefits

The top 2025 Malibu trim comes with a long list of features, such as larger 19-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlights, stylish leather upholstery, a configurable digital instrument cluster, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, ventilated front seats, LED headlights, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. It also enhances the Malibu's tech features by adding an upgraded infotainment system that includes navigation, replacing the standard sound system with a nine-speaker Bose audio system, and adding a wireless charging pad and a 120-volt household-style power outlet.

Optional Features and Packages

You can also choose extra packages for each trim. The blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert is available for all trims, helping you avoid accidents by alerting you if another vehicle enters your blind spot while reversing or changing lanes. If you select the LT and 2LT trims, unique Redline, Midnight, and Sport appearance packages are available. A dual-pane power sunroof is also available.

If you want to feel safer on the road, the Driver Confidence and Cruise package can be added to the 2LT trim. It includes extra driver aids, such as:

  • Adaptive cruise control: Makes highway driving safer and easier by maintaining a set distance between the Malibu and the car in front, even as it accelerates and decelerates
  • Enhanced automatic emergency braking: Brakes automatically at speeds as low as 2 mph
  • Automated parking system: Parks the Malibu all by itself, with almost no driver input

Comprehensive Buyer's Guide for the 2025 Chevrolet Malibu

Buying a vehicle can be a complex task. This quick guide can help you understand your options regarding financing and test-driving your 2025 Malibu.

Navigating Financing or Leasing Options

As with any new car, your two main options are financing and leasing. Financing involves paying a down payment and then monthly installments for the remaining amount, plus interest. Leasing allows you to use the Malibu for a limited amount of time, which is usually three years, for a monthly payment. Our finance center staff will work with you to help you figure out the option that makes the most sense in your situation.

Test-Drive Before Buying

Regardless of how good a car looks on paper, you should test-drive the car before committing to buying or leasing it. This can help you determine if the car meets your expectations.
