Standard Chevy Safety Assist

Chevrolet is known for having one of the most inclusive standard safety packages available on the market: Chevy Safety Assist. The 2023 Trailblazer comes in four different trim levels, and you can rest easy knowing that even the base trim comes equipped with this impressive suite of safety features. Let's take a closer look at what Chevy Safety Assist is all about.

Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking

There are times it takes more than good eyesight and keen reactions to avoid a forward collision. Despite our best efforts, obstacles can sometimes appear when we least expect them, and the human body might not always be fast enough to react appropriately. For times like this, forward collision alert and automatic emergency braking are there to take over and help you avoid a collision.

Forward collision alert detects when a front collision is imminent, and it will apply automatic braking if you're traveling at speeds of 50 mph or less to help you avoid or reduce the severity of a front-end collision. It will also detect if you've been following too closely to a vehicle and will issue a tailgating alert to help you know when to back off.

Front Pedestrian Braking

When driving any vehicle, it's important to keep an eye on everyone around you. With most of our focus usually on other drivers, there's a risk you might miss a pedestrian. That's where front pedestrian braking can help.

Working at speeds of 50 mph or less in daylight conditions, this safety feature can help you avoid or reduce the severity of a front-end collision with a pedestrian by automatically providing hard emergency braking or enhancing the driver's hard braking when a pedestrian is detected. This gives you peace of mind that even in chaotic driving conditions, your Trailblazer will have your back with staying focused on everything around you.

Lane-Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning

Distractions happen. Whether it's from a child suddenly screaming in the backseat, a spilled cup of coffee, or a quick glance to adjust radio settings, situations arise that will take our eyes off the road. When we lose sight of what's ahead, even for just a second, we run the risk of allowing our vehicle to drift unintentionally out of lane.

Lane-keep assist is a system that automatically detects if your vehicle starts to drift out of its lane and applies gentle steering corrections to help you stay where you're supposed to be. If drifting continues to happen, you will hear alerts to make you aware of the situation. The system is advanced enough to detect if you're intentionally leaving your lane or using a turn signal and will not affect steering in these circumstances.

Following Distance Indicator

If you think back to your days in driving school, you might remember being told that you need to keep a safe following distance in order to have enough time to effectively slow or stop your car if the vehicle in front of you brakes suddenly. However, this might not always be on our minds when cruising down I-83.

Luckily, the following distance indicator will help make sure you're keeping a safe following distance by providing you with the following gap time in seconds between your vehicle and a the one you're following. You'll instantly see how many seconds there are between you and the vehicle in front and will be able to adjust your distance to stay at a safe distance.

IntelliBeam Auto High Beams

High beams serve an essential purpose, providing drivers with the best vision possible during nighttime driving when the roads are dark. However, they can also be a hazard to oncoming drivers by temporarily blinding them, leaving them vulnerable to drifting out of their lane or even off the road. Remembering to adjust your headlight settings from high beam to low beam can sometimes be tricky, especially if you're not used to driving at night or you have passengers distracting you.

The IntelliBeam system works by detecting your surrounding driving conditions and automatically adjusting your high beams to low when it detects oncoming traffic. This gives you the backup you need in cases where you might inadvertently forget, and it also allows you to focus on more important things when driving at night.

While Chevy Safety Assist is more than enough to provide you with reassurance when you're behind the wheel, they're not the only standard safety features that you'll find on the 2023 Trailblazer. You'll also find the following as standard:
